An update on the Women’s First Team

The club would like to provide an update on the Women’s First Team.

Over the past four weeks the club has conducted a review on how best to support the development of the Women’s senior side. The club would like to stress that at no point was the ladies section under threat and our ambition for the entire club has never been more resolute.

It is because of that desire that difficult decisions have been made to reaffirm & ensure that the values, attributes and mentality required to help support things moving forward are present and in place. This is a process that is happening right across the club.

Our club has the unique structure of having a Director of Football, Andy Campbell, who is able to act in an interim manner during these periods, as Andy did for the Men’s side in the FA Vase fixture against Jarrow. This has given us the chance to take our time, re-evaluate and be concise in this process, to ensure we are ready to communicate to the next Manager about what the expectations & structures are, and equally, what the support and resources will look like.

So, we are now ready to invite applications for the role as Thornaby Women’s 1st Team manager – a role we believe is one of the very best opportunities in Women’s football in the North East.

Anyone interested can do so by contacting either Director of Football, Andy Campbell (df@thornabyfc.com or 07855 473962) or Chief Operations Officer, Ryan McKnight (ryan@thornabyfc.com or 07743 061264).

Finally, we’d like to thank the commitment and professionalism of all the players who have been fantastic over the past month. We have a brilliant squad of talented female players and we still very much have our sights set on another successful season.
